Adopt An Animal Program With Zoo Negara

Universal Peak Sdn. Bhd. participated in the adoption program of Zoo Negara as part of our CSR (Community Service Responsibility) initiative for 2017. As a result, our company adopted a pair of mouse deer, naming the male Upeh and the female Upeena.

The lesser mouse-deer can be found widely across Southeast Asia in Indochina specifically at places like Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and also parts of Thailand, Singapore, Borneo, Sumatra, mainly throughout the Peninsular Malaysia. It is known to be the smallest mammal with hooves. Its adult size is only 45 cm (18 inches) and 2 kg'(4.4 lb). The Malay or Indonesian name for the creature is "Kancil", which means "mouse deer and smart person". The genus name Tragulas is composed of tragos, "goat" in Greek and ulus, "small" in Latin.

The reason Universal Peak Sdn. Bhd. our company had picked to adopt mouse-deer’s was, the significance of its species representing the similarities of how we are also rather small yet fast paced and growing company.
