Universal Peak Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Qualitrol, successfully hosted a technical seminar titled “State of the Art
Condition Monitoring Solution for Power Transformers & GIS” on 13 April 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK),
Kuching, Sarawak.
The seminar brought together a strong representation of industry stakeholders, including SEB asset owners, electrical
engineers, local EPC companies in Sarawak, and industry consultants, highlighting the growing demand for advanced condition
monitoring solutions in the region.
The session commenced with an introduction to Qualitrol by Vinit Sheth, who highlighted the company’s global expertise in
delivering advanced monitoring technologies for critical electrical assets.
This was followed by a comprehensive technical presentation by Thomas Linn, covering transformer monitoring solutions such
as Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), bushing monitoring, and partial discharge detection. The session also explored complete
GIS monitoring solutions and the integration of SmartSub software for enhanced asset visibility and data-driven asset
management.
The seminar was further supported by Wong Moon Hong, reinforcing the strong collaboration between Universal Peak and
Qualitrol.
Overall, the seminar emphasised the increasing importance of predictive maintenance, digitalisation, and real-time monitoring
in ensuring grid reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term asset performance.
