On 12 March 2026, Universal Peak Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Blueleaf Energy, hosted a Majlis Beramah Mesra and Iftar
gathering with members of the Bukit Kayu Hitam community at Raia Hotel, Alor Setar, Kedah.
The event served as a meaningful platform to engage with local stakeholders and foster stronger relationships in conjunction
with the proposed development of a 100MW / 400MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project under the Energy Commission’s
MyBeST Programme. The project will be undertaken through the special purpose vehicle, BKHM BESS Sdn Bhd.
The session was attended by representatives from both organisations, including Sandy Yuanda (Lead, Land/Interconnection
Development) and Adely Kassim (Land Development) from Blueleaf Energy, as well as Nordalina Daud (Head of Business
Development), Noraziah Binti Ahmad (Chief Financial Officer), Muhammad Razif Ramli (Project Director), Surin Raj
(Project Manager) and Pravin Thanabalan (Project Manager) from Universal Peak. Also present were representatives from
Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (Kedah State Development Corporation), including Puan Kamariah, as well as local
authorities, village heads, and community leaders.
This engagement reflects the commitment of Universal Peak and Blueleaf Energy to ensure that project development is carried
out in a responsible, inclusive, and transparent manner. By fostering open dialogue with the local community, the initiative
aims to build trust and ensure alignment with community needs and expectations.
The proposed BESS project is expected to contribute to grid stability, enhanced renewable energy integration, and long-term
energy resilience in Kedah, while supporting Malaysia’s broader energy transition agenda. Universal Peak extends its sincere
appreciation to the Bukit Kayu Hitam community for their warm hospitality and participation. The company looks forward to
continued engagement with all stakeholders as the project progresses.
